WHY I DON'T DO HACK SQUATS
WHY I DON’T DO HACK SQUATS. Hack squats have never been a great exercise for me, but that doesn’t mean that they might not be a good one for you. It all depends in how you’re built. If you’re femur is long like mine, you’ll find that you may have trouble activating the hamstring which protects the knee when your body is straight up and down and the force of the movement is moving in a direction over the knee. In this case I’d recommend a movement that involves a little bend at the waist in order to recruit that hamstring. For people with a shorter femur ratio to tibia, may have an easier time activating their hamstring during the Hack Squat and therefore might have a better ability to fire the hamstring and be able to protect the knees during the movement.
