The actress shared her simple and relatable tips.

Actress - Reese Witherspoon's Beauty Must-Haves At 43

It’s hard to believe that Reese Witherspoon has graced our screens for over twenty years now. Compare her starring role on 2017’s “Big Little Lies” with her breakout in 2001’s “Legally Blonde” and you’ll see that the 43-year-old actress has barely aged a day.

So how does she do it? Luckily the Oscar-winning star recently spilled her beauty secrets to Allure magazine, so we can all indulge our inner Tracy Flicks and take a lot of notes.

She Takes Prenatal Vitamins

While the actress isn’t planning to have any more children (she’s already mom to three), she told the magazine that she takes prenatal vitamins because “one of my girlfriends told me she takes them even though she’s not pregnant, so now I do, too. It makes my hair look better.”

According to the American Pregnancy Association, prenatal vitamins provide the necessary vitamins and minerals, including iron, folic acid, vitamin D, and calcium that not only promote a healthier pregnancy but also replenish your own nutritional needs.

Many women, like Witherspoon, claim that prenatal vitamins help make their hair and nail grow faster and stronger. However, Healthline notes that taking in excess vitamins can have adverse effects. For example, too much folic acid can mask a vitamin B12 deficiency. That’s why it’s wise to consult with your doctor or holistic practitioner before taking prenatals.

She Washes Her Face Every Night

“I’m very regimented about washing my face at night. I wear a lot of makeup for work, so I have a tendency to break out around my chin and nose if I don’t get it all off,” said Witherspoon.

While washing your face before bedtime seems tortuous times — especially after a late night –it’s vital to keep your face healthy and clean. Pollutants, bacteria, and debris from throughout the day collect on your face, which can result in acne breakouts.

Also, at night, your body produces fewer natural oils to moisturize the skin, so if you’re not properly cleansing and moisturizing your face, you’ll end up with dry and red skin, which will only cause you to look not very glow-y.

She Takes an Epsom Salt Bath

The producer told the magazine that she enjoys taking an Epsom salt bath. “I’ve been taking a bath every night for the past four years. It’s changed the way I sleep and the way I feel when I wake up — takes away all aches and pains.”

Epsom salts, which is magnesium and sulfate, break down in warm water and are thought to dissolve into the skin to help relax muscles and loosen stiff joints. While there’s been little research to prove this theory, it hasn’t stopped many people, like Witherspoon, from reaping the relaxing benefits.

And, of course, when we’re more calm and relaxed, the better we feel, which is reflected from the inside, out.

So, there you have it. If you want to look as good as Reese at 43, take your vitamins, wash your face, and take a bath. Sounds simple enough and about right for the “down home”, relatable Southern charm that Witherspoon is famous for.
