The Internet Is Divided Over This Viral Pineapple Hack, and I Really Don't Know What to Believe

I love pineapple, but I’m not sure pineapple loves me back. The tasty tropical fruit is almost irresistible to my taste buds, but it leaves me with an itchy mouth, and it’s oh-so-annoying to cut. At least, that’s what I thought before I saw Tik Tok user @dillonroberts22 peel his pineapple piece-by-piece. Uh, excuse me? How has this hack just been lying in plain sight?

I’m not the only one thoroughly mesmerized by this trick. People on the internet went into an uproar over the video, and quickly tried to put it to the test in their own kitchens. Here’s the thing: it only works some of the time. LA Times columnist Lucas Peterson and many others didn’t see success when trying the hack themselves. Others found that a superripe snack pineapple (and maybe even some time in the microwave) is necessary to get the juicy, fall-off-the-core chunks. I guess there’s really no way to know for sure until I try it at home.

Ahead, see a few attempts at this viral hack: the good, the not-so-good, and the straight-up messy.
