Why You’re Struggling to Lose Weight (And How to Fix It)

Many years ago, I struggled with obesity. It was a time where I was on the 2 for 1 Burger King diet. The first 30 lbs were quite easy to lose, the remaining 90 lbs were extremely hard to shed off. The reason why it was so hard? Because I didn’t know what to do. This is when I decided to copy what people were doing at the gym, starving myself, over consuming on certain meals and the list goes on. Eventually, I came to the realization that I was…

What happened when I came into money

For many people, a financial windfall isn’t necessarily a life-altering moment. Often, it’s quieter than hitting the jackpot or winning the lottery (which, in many cases, can actually make beneficiaries more prone to bankruptcy). It might come in the form of compensation for a workplace injury or a sudden inheritance; sometimes, it might just be a sharp increase in earnings. Many financial planners warn that recipients of a windfall are in a precarious position, often prone to mismanaging their finances or feeling crippled by their sudden wealth. But the money need…

Overeating at Meals Causing Weight Gain? Try This Science-Backed and Dietitian-Approved Trick

Source Page feedproxy.google.com/~r/fitsugar/~3/F-w_tGDmUV8/Eating-Soup-Before-Meal-Help-Me-Lose-Weight-45853281

It might be from eating too much at mealtimes. Although losing weight is not always as simple as heading low-carb , there’s no denying that taking in more energy than you expend will cause weight gain. Among the greatest reasons people tend to eat too much at foods is that they let themselves get too hungry, then eat into the stage beyond gratification.

Yes, listening to your hunger cues and moving by the hunger scale are key ways to be sure to keep satiated and don’t overeat. But if you wind up in a restaurant feeling absolutely ravished, do not immediately go for the bread basket or chips and salsa. Rather, dietitians and study point to one appetizer you should definitely order: a broth-based soup.

“The benefit of soup at the beginning of your meal is that it can help fill volume in your stomach, leaving room for more calorie-dense food items,” registered dietitian Kelly Krikhely, MS, told POPSUGAR, including broth-based soups are advised because creamy soups tend to get filled with calories and can impede your efforts.

Nevertheless, it is not just a dietitian-recommended hack; there’s science to prove this premeal order. A study out of Penn State discovered that if a group of participants ate a first course of soup before their entrée, they ate 20 percent fewer calories (with the soup and entrée) compared to if they did not eat the soup beforehand.

In addition to filling the volume on your stomach, broth-based soups are hydrating, which could satiate your thirst cue, clarified Haley Hughes, MS, RD, CDE, who added that certain broth-based soups are a terrific source of protein, vitamins, and minerals. But be mindful of the sort of broth-based soup you’re ordering; recipes comprising considerable quantities of rice, noodles, or potatoes can be calorie bombs, Kelly warned.

“The secret is to be certain that you’re picking a broth-based soup that is chock-full of vegetables which won’t only fill you up but keep you satisfied for longer,” Kelly said, adding that ingesting a fiber-filled salad with a lot of veggies and a light dressing ahead serves the same function.

And while this trick is handy in restaurants, you can even apply it in home. (To make your own bone broth, check out our recipe.) In the end, some restaurant soups can be filled with sodium, which will make you bloated and cause you to feel worse the following day. But if you are really starving when you get to a restaurant, swap out the butter and bread with a veggie-packed soup starter. Bonus points if you look up the nutrition info beforehand to see just how much sodium it’s.
