Leg Press with Smith machine.  Alternative leg exercise to work upper hamstring. Lay on a bench with your butt under the bar of the smith machine. Place your feet on the bar about hip width apart. Lower the bar down, your knees will come down to the sides of your body or bench, depending on your flexibility. You should press through the heels as you push the bar up. You will feel this in your hamstrings and butt.
