Yoga for Runners: Stretching the Psoas. . .it feels so GOOD!!

OH THE PSOAS!!! It can be quite a pesky muscle, that if tight, can cause issues in our running journey. Anything from, compression in the lower spine, uneven core stability, breathing issues, SI Joint pain, leg pain, etc.

As runners, athletes, or fitness minded people, keeping your Psoas healthy is a key component in creating a body that works at its highest potential.

This stretch is a great one to incorporate into your daily routine, especially if you work in an environment that has you sitting for long hours during the day.

All you need is some form of cushioning under your knees (i.e yoga mat or towel) and blocks or books, if you need to bring the floor a little closer to your hands. If moving into the final variation, it is also a good idea to have either a yoga strap or regular belt nearby to help you make up the difference between your foot and hand.
